Turning down a bribe demand is a conscious decision one makes, being fully aware of the trouble you are inviting onto yourself. Irked by the refusal to pay a bribe, government officials or police officers create difficulties in processes that would have been completely hassle-free, had a bribe been paid to complete the same. Unfortunately, not many can afford to delay their work, while trying to evade bribing. How many of us would pay a bribe rather than delaying a task or a process?
