An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a document recognized by many countries which allows the permit-holder to drive a private motor vehicle in that country. To be valid, the IDP must be accompanied by a valid license from the home country.
How can I get an International Driving Permit?
To get an International Driving Permit, use the following procedure:
- Fill in the application Form-4 which you can get from the RTO enquiry counter or alternatively you can click on the following link:
- Submit the application form along with the required documents at the RTO. Ensure that the address in the driving license should fall under the jurisdiction of the respective RTO.
- The applicant will then have to appear in person.
- The applicant should then appear for a re-test if the Driving License issued is within three months.
Documents Required:
- Application: Form-4
- International driving Permit Fee of Rs. 500/-
- Original valid driving license + Passport + Visa + Air Ticket (Also one set of copies of the same)
- Medical certificate in form Form-1 and Form-1A should be enclosed along with the application.
- 3 recent passport size photographs.
