New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) The Delhi Lokpal bill will be vetted by the central government before it is enacted, a highly-placed source in the union law ministry said Thursday.

"The Delhi government has been advised that before the Lokpal bill is enacted, it has to go first to the Lt. Governor and vetted and cleared by the union government," the source said.

The Delhi cabinet Monday cleared the draft of the anti-graft Delhi Lokpal Bill, 2014, according to which an independent probe can be initiated against government employees, ranging from the chief minister to a peon.

The anti-corruption legislation was one of the major poll promises of the Aam Aadmi Party.
