Mumbai, Jan 31 (IANS) Two engineers of Western Railways were arrested here while accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe to favour a person in the departmental examination, the CBI said on Tuesday.

"The (senior section) engineers were arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe. They had demanded bribe through cheques to show undue favour to the complainant," CBI spokesperson R.K. Gaur told IANS.

Dilip T. Khaire and Shakindra S. Lokhande, both employed at the Electric Multiple Unit workshop in Mumbai's Mahalaxmi area, were held following a complaint.

A special court on Tuesday sent them to two-day Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody.

The CBI also searched the premises of the accused's properties and seized incriminating documents, the officer added.
