I hate the instant I paid the bribe
I was starting to New York and wanted to get my driving license as I did not want to go through a hassle right after I reached NY. Though I knew how to drive (very well) and did everything correctly (everyone else who came with me could not even change gears) I did not get my license until I agreed to pay 250 rupees. I could not do anything than succumbing as I was starting in a weeks time. I still hate that day. When I inquired about International Driving Permit, I was told that I have to pay 5000 rupees for that. I did a simple google search and found out that New York did not ask for IDP as long as the foreign license was in english. So did not pay the huge amount.
