I want to change my khata from Gram Panchayat to BBMP. One broker is asking for Rs 9000.How much would it charge actually ?.Should i give him this much money?.Pls advice me. -**********(Mob: ******* )

There is absolutely no need for your to pay any money to change your Khata from the GP to the BBMP.</p>

Gram Panchayat areas have been taken over by BBMP on an as-is where-is basis. Once you have a Katha with the GP already, there is no question of applying for BBMP Katha. Unfortunately, the BBMP is not disclosing this fact to the general public, but some of its officials are insisting that though they have a katha, residents of erstwhile GPs must apply and get a BBMP katha. This is only to make money.</p>

The demand to put the burden on you to change your Katha is as ridiculous as asking you to obtain a fresh birth certificate after your Panchayat has been merged into the BBMP limits. A katha once issued by a local authority is final and they need not apply for another katha at all.</p>

Please file an RTI application asking for the written orders of the government, that a resident of an erstwhile Panchayat has to apply for a Khata afresh from the BBMP.</p>
