Bribe for returning my own lost vehcile which was recovered

My vehicle was stolen near Krishna Rao Park on 10 June 2015. The compliant was filed with the basavanagudi police station. I received a call stating that the vehicle has been recovered by the Hulimavu police station. Finally my vehicle was transferred to Basavanagudi police station. I was called to the station by the constable and was asked for a bribe of Rs 5,000 to return the vehicle. I was also told if I don't pay the amount I would be made to roam around to the court to recover the same, which would result in a higher financial loss to me. From writing down a complaint to issue a FIR to return my own los vehicle for everything the police want money. And I am expected to respect the department for being my so called guardian or custodian? There are more than 60 vehicles recovered by Hulimavu station and 18 belongs to Basavanagudi and they are doing this for each and every person. What is the salary being paid to these guys for?
