I was stopped at a police checkpoint in Hyderabad in the evening. There were lots of policemen who were stopping several bikes as it was rush hour. In my case I was not wearing a helmet. The fine for not wearing helmet in Hyderabad is 100rs, which everyone knew as it was on signs all around the interesection. However the policeman said it would be much easier just to give him 50rs, which he put in his pocket. The policemen were collecting this 50rs several times each minute from the passing motorbikes. This is a common activity for police.
