For Police Verification of Passport

Reported on October 5, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30433

I had stayed in 2 different places for the 4 years before the ********** I had applied for my passport. I never regretted this change of location until I had to get the police verification done for the passport application.
I had studied in **********. So, the ********** police had to stamp their approval. I had to shell out 600 ( They had asked for 1000, I pleaded saying, I got the job just now, no money Sir). Then, my next location was in Bangalore for a period of 1 year, and for this again I had to pay 800Rs. Including that, the Police also said that I had to buy 4 books from him, which his friend wrote. When, I said I was not interested in buying 4, but I will buy only 1, he said in that case, I can come again after a week for the verification. Buying books will make the process faster.
I had to wait for 1.5hr just to ********** this Police officer for his verifiaction, though the station was totally empty! So, I agreed and bought the 4 books for 100 or maybe 150Rs extra! I had to sell them off to the recycling man for 10Rs.
Also, they were chatting and passing comments that these people will make passports, go to foreign countries on world trip or earn in lakhs but can't give a few hundreds to the poor police here.

How I wish I could put him behind the bars in his own police station!
