Traffic police threatened to conficate the vehicle.

Reported on September 24, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30767

I am D working at Bangalore and owning a motor bike. One day at Koramangala main road I had parked my bike infront of HSBC bank and was standing beside the bike waiting for my bank who is in the bank doing some transaction. A traffic police vehicle which tows away vehicles stopped in front of me. The traffic police officer inside the van understood that I am a non local and try to make full use of it. The police officer said I had parked the vehicle on a non parking zone and told me the fine is Rs 500. Even though he understands my english he responds back only in Kannada. I told him I had just stopped by and I am beside the vehicle. He threatened me to conficate my vehicle if I do not pay the fine. Driver driving the vehicle is sending signals to me to pay the fine. I tried to pay Rs 100, he did not accept it and demanded Rs 200. Without much choice I had paid him Rs 200. He did not provide any bill to me and drove away. I had complained regarding the same on the traffic police website but did not receive any response. When I had checked traffic police website regarding the fines I had found that for wrong parking I need to pay only Rs 100, if they tow away my vehicle I need to pay labor charges also which will amount to Rs 300. This is my worst experience with the traffic police department. I had paid fines for atleast 6 times for various reasons like no-entry, jump signal and e.t.c in my three years of owning my bike in Bangalore and I had received receipt only one time.
