Bribes in the Form of Goodwill
“Please do some charity by paying me a bribe”
Every time you feel charitable, pay a bribe. For we have needy officers aplenty who well deserve your philanthropy in exchange of services they are hired to deliver. Although at times the benevolence will have to be forced upon you. Never mind that!
While a railway official expected some ‘seva’ (read bribe) in exchange of a seat he allocated to a traveller from Delhi, these custom’s officials from Hyderabad definitely deserve a special mention. Instead of blatantly asking for bribes, they ask for gifts instead.
“It is embarrassing to see the salaried Govt. of India employed personnel behaving like beggar… we pay high user charges to use RGI Shamshabad airport and to get nagged by the Govt. for favours” opines the respondent from Hyderabad who encountered these amusing characters.
Set out to redefine the word ‘Charity’, haven’t they?
