Newly appointed chairman of the Press Council of India, Markandey Katju had recently expressed the need for the broadcast media to be brought under the Press Council of India or under another state-sponsored regulatory body. With influential voices speaking up in favour of greater media regulation, perhaps it’s time for introspection.
