Charging Tips- Birthright or Necessity?

Posted on March 01, 2013

“Every delivery boy asks for bribe. While the bill is issued for Rs.398, they would announce Rs.410 and if you would not give this amount the delivery boy would not deliver the gas cylinder to you.”

It may not be entirely right or entirely wrong for gas delivery boys to demand ‘tips’ from customers. Although customers are in a way harassed into paying extra money to receive their gas delivery on time, they are unaware of the reason behind such a practice. Paltry salaries barely cover their fuel expenses, let alone their personal needs. Under such circumstances, these underpaid delivery boys are forced to demand extra money from customers.

The only solution to the problem would be when distributors pay what these delivery boys deserve, instead of allowing such a practice to prevail.
