Social welfare: another avenue to fleece public
The Social welfare department, intended to directly confer benefits to the public, also indulges in unethical activities.
A contractor from Bangalore reveals how he was forced to pay Rs. 5 lakhs to the Executive Engineer of the City’s Social Welfare Department for procuring a contract for constructing a residential school.
Right from the passing of official bills, issuing plans, making blueprints to technical bidding- no work seemed to get done without some sort of exchange, he shares on our portal. http://ipaidabribe.com/bribe-central/paid-bride-social-welfare-department-karnataka-residentialeducational-institutional.
Another individual from Parbhani (Maharashtra) had to pay Rs. 6,000 to register his social welfare organisation with a government welfare society to secure permissions to construct a public gym and a youth club.
Procuring scholarships from these departments is extremely tedious too. One respondent from Warangal (Andhra Pradesh) reveals how officials threatened to tear up certificates until a bribe of Rs 1,500 was paid to him.
