No PAN without pain!
With PAN cards increasingly proving useful for most identification purposes, having one with correct details proves vital.
A person from Faridabad had to pay Rs. 1,500 to the tax department to effect a rectification in his PAN card http://www.ipaidabribe.com/bribe-central/bribe-making-pan-card.
An individual from New Delhi had to pay Rs. 500 to an Income Tax officer for correcting the number on his pan card. Despite submitting the documents and explaining all the things to the greedy officer, he asked for “sewa” from our respondent. To get his job done, the individual was forced to pay the bribe to the officer. He laments that the system has been damaged so much and is beyond rectification now.
Many reports reveal the bribe amounts our respondents paid to obtain a new PAN card. But according to the Income Tax laws it takes only Rs.100 (for Indian Resident) and Rs. 744 (for NRI) to obtain a PAN card.
