I recently moved residence to Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. Even though the building I stay in was handed over possession by the builder more than 7 years ago, the power bills are coming in the name of the builder. When I went to the bill collection centre of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co.(MAHADISCOM) for paying my first bill after occupying the flat the clerk at the receiving counter suggested to me to get the meter transferred to me which will cost me Rs.2000. After making enquiries with some other people, I could find one person who was willing to do the job for Rs.1500. I entrusted the job to him. He has since submitted the application on my behalf and has given me a receipt for Rs.25 paid as 'processing fees' to MAHADISCOM. I have no clue as to who the beneficiaries of the remaining amount of Rs 1475 are. I am sure that a substantial portion of this must have gone to the functionaries of MAHADISCOM. While I am satisfied that my job is getting done although at a substantial cost to me, I am bringing this to your notice for such action as you may consider necessary.
