I was travelling from Ambala to Gaya with my friend and had to break…

Reported on February 28, 2014 from Varanasi , Uttar Pradesh  ι Report #39738

I was travelling from Ambala to Gaya with my friend and had to break my journey at Mughalsarai to board another train to Patna. When I was going towards the ticket counter at Mughalsarai Junction (UP), I was asked by the TTE at the platform to present my ticket. I did so and also showed him my college ID card. For a moment he accepted the proof but soon he started to tell me that the college ID was not a valid ID. I told him that I have been travelling on this ID for years but he didn't pay any heed. Then came another lady TTE and she started using foul language and demanded bribe. I tried to explain the situation to her in the most polite manner in which I could have talked, but all in vain. Finally, I had to give up and bribed her with Rs. 700 which was all that I had in my wallet at that time. I was so infuriated by all this that I asked several railway officials for the office where I could get my complaint registered. I also went to the TTE room to get the situation clear. I could have also gone to the railway magistrate and filed my complain there if I had enough time, but unfortunately, I couldn't as the train that I had to board had arrived at the station. I want them to be punished as severally as the officials can. If they could do this to someone who had a valid ticket then god knows what they could do to someone who is travelling without a ticket! I am a law student (from a National Law School) and this incident shook me from the core. I wanted to pay the fine and not pay the bribe but I didn't have enough money with me then. Please, punish those money-hungry-wolves in the most severe manner as you can. Thank you.
PS: Sorry, there was no option of Mughalsarai in the column above and so, I had to pick Varanasi (the station close by). It's compulsory to fill all the columns to get the complaint registered.
