Bribe for registering FIR for theft of bike

Reported on March 29, 2011 from Kolkata , West Bengal  ι Report #32229

I used to work for an MNC in Kolkata.

I was driving a Bajaj Pulsar.

It was 3rd May 2008 and my bike got stolen from just in front of my house in Teghoria, kolkata.

I was very much frastrated and sad since i bought the bike on full cash payment and now that whole money is gone.

So i went to the Police station and tried to tell them about that incident and lodge an FIR.

To my surprise they asked me whether i intentionally organised the theft of my bike to get the insurance amount and also started questioning me as if i am the one who is the main thief or the culprit.

But they never lodged my FIR during this whole incident that night.

I went back sad and frastrated and told this whole incident to one my uncle who happened to be one of the very senior and influencial guys from one of the strongest political party of West Bengal.

Next day he accompanied me to the Police Station and i found that the all the guys (police officers and other people present) after getting learning about his position became just like dogs licking his legs.

Morale of the incident: If you are a normal person you have to pay bribe for even reporting of incidents otherwise you will not be counted or else you have to have very high political reach to get things done......sad very sad.

What's your reaction?
