Change of name in the Birth certificate
There was a name correction in the birth certificate of my son. I wanted to expand the initials of my name as in my passport. From Chinmaya Mission Hospital, they made the correction and provided me a letter to be submitted in the Corporation office to make the required changes. I went to the corporation office near Majestic with my passport as an identity proof and the letter given by hospital authorities and submitted the application. The chief officer was on leave and the assistant asked me to produce the proof. I provided him my passport and voters id card. He was not fine with that and asked me for 10th mark sheet wherein my initials are not expanded. I explained him that in the passport all initials will be expanded, but he was not ready to take it. I requested him to help me because I need to travel abroad to join my Husband. He called another guy, who looks like an agent and talked something to him. That guy took me to another corner of the room and asked me to pay 3000 Rs to make the correction. I was shocked and was not willing to pay the amount. The officer refused to do it and I left the office without making the correction.
