Whitefield police station

Reported on November 30, 2019 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #217536

I was asked to reach the Whitfield police station in the morning for passport verification. When I reached, I had to go to the verification room. I was given a form in the local language to fill. I politely asked for English version which he provided. He was very polite and cordial too. After filling the forms and going Through my documents, he said " ok, I'll recommend your form to sir, if you have 500, give" I politely smiled and said no I don't have (I had only 200, but if I mentioned that, he'd ask for that). Even though I expected this scenario, I was still shocked when it happened. But I gathered courage to politely say no to bribe. And he was equally surprised by my "no'. In that state of mind, I almost forgot my documents there. And went back to collect it. He was not dressed in the police uniform and did not have a name badge. I got notification that my passport is already printed. I'm not sharing my details so as to avoid any harassment from the police in future since I do not have any proof that this event took place.

What's your reaction?
