This happened in Feb 2016. I took a U-turn at a signal near Naturals

Reported on June 17, 2016 from Navi Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #107697

This happened in Feb 2016.
I took a U-turn at a signal near Naturals Ice cream at Vashi. After I turned a cop stopped me as asked me for my licence. He told me that I cant take U-turns at a signal and that I have broke a law. He said that my licence will be confiscated for 7 days and then I will have to pay a fine and collect it from the naka. He told me that the rulkes have changed and showed me a laminated sheet of paper with the rules in MARATHI.
I told him that I need my licence as I will be leaving the country in 2 days (I am studying abroad).
He said that If I paid a fine of 500 to him he will give me my licence back.
I did that and he gave me my receipt.

Later that day I went online to check the rules and it said that the penalty amount was Rs 100 for jumping a signal.

Questions:

1. Was i get cheated?

2. Why did he have the rule document in Marathi? Why is it not in English?

I'm sure this cop is still in Navi Mumbai and continues to fool other people! I hope some one can catch him in his act.

What's your reaction?
