Demand of Bribe not fulfilled, but was let off by Policeman

Reported on December 2, 2015 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #84713

The incident occurred at the Dahisar Checknaka in Mumbai on the morning of 30-Nov-15.
I was returning to Mumbai and was driving a Gujarat registered Vehicle. As expected, was stopped at the check-naka. Police constable asked for papers of vehicle. I showed him the papers as per his demand - PUC, Registration certificate, Insurance. Upon verification of the above, lastly he asked for license. Gave it to him, and upon closer inspection by him, he told that the license has expired. I need to renew it. I checked the purse and saw that the last renewal of license I did was of the 2 wheeler only and the 4 wheeler license was not renewed. He explained that there is a fine of Rs.500 and I will get a receipt of the same. I said ok and followed him towards the chowky for payment of fine. Over there, he says that since you are a family man travelling with family, make it a point to renew your license and this time you can move on without paying the fine and give me whatever you can give happily. I reconfirmed that it is ok, I am ready to pay the fine. He again said the same, give whatever you want to give happily. I simply moved on without giving him anything.
But 1 thing, he was a nice guy and was not at all rude even at the time of his duty - 4:30 early morning.

What's your reaction?
