On the evening of 03-Dec-2013, sub inspector Apurba Chakraborty…
On the evening of 03-Dec-2013, sub inspector Apurba Chakraborty of Bansdroni police station called me up on my cell phone that he would be at my residence the next day between 10 AM - 12 noon to complete police verification for the passport renewal. He also gave me a list of 6 documents that I needed to photocopy and present to him when he comes up.
The next day, exactly at 10.45 AM Mr. Chakraborty came up to my home (timeliness - check). He was really courteous and a gentleman (politeness - check). He filled up all the paperwork and asked for my documents which I presented to him. All of the formalities took around 5 minutes (professional - check). During that time, my 15 month old kid was roaming around and he even spent a minute or so asking about him and saying Hi to him. He also exchanged some pleasantries with me.
All in all, when he left, my wife and I were discussing among ourselves that if all police officers were like Mr. Chakraborty, we would be living in a different world altogether. Thank you Mr. Chakraborty. You have painted a different picture (although very slightly) of the police in our eyes.
