They did not ask for a bribe
My wife's and my passport applications were up for re-verification by the police who had already been to our place while we were out of town for over three months. After a bit of liaison with our agent, we learnt that our applications were most probably sent to the concerned police station. So, we went to inquire and the very helpful police ********** completed the process the same day and did not demand a bribe. Of course it is likely that the bribe was not demanded as I very firmly established my identity as a retired Air Force Officer. (A view confirmed by our agent).
