My neice was born at st. Philomena's hospital, bangalore. hospital authorities asked us to collect birth certificate from BBMP office, Austin town, bangalore after 3 days.
I went to BBMP office in Austin town, viveknagar, Bangalore. The BBMP office staff demanded Rs.200. I then asked why and argued with them. They then gave me certificate for Rs.50. But since the baby was not named, I got a birth certificate without the name mentioned.
After another 20 days, after baby was named, I went back to same Austin town BBMP office to get baby's name included in birth certificate. This time they demanded Rs.400. When I refused, they said printer problem and computer problem and so they cannot issue today.
I had applied half day leave and went for this work, so I had to get it done. After much argument and bargaining, I paid them Rs.200 and got birth certificate with name included.
