I am a joint owner of a small office unit at Prestige UB **********. This was purchased along with other purchasers in different proportionate percentage shares. by me through the builders themselves (1 Sale) and was duly registered in 2007 vide registered sale deed in the office of the sub registrar.We as joint owners have been paying property taxes regularly since 2007.Now we had applied for khata transfer to BBMP by submitting all the required documents and khata transfer fee @ 2% of stamp duty.in the month of september2011. later on an endorsement was given fron BBMP that they have to inspect the place and verify the unit no. and sub nos. of the place. Since we do not reside in Bangalore we approached the builders with this endorsement from BBMP.Since several months have elapsed since submitting the khata transfer application and the khata transfer fees . The builders demanded 25000/ to get the khata transfer fron BBMP stating that without this bribe Amount KHata transfer cannot be carried out. This was paid to the builders and not directly to BBMP. I suppose that the builder is hand in glove with the BBMP and it is a big racket since there are so many office units and hundreds of owners I suppose the buildersa and BBMP officials have made crores in just khata transfer . I personally the LOK Ayukta should investigate the matter.Khata transfer fee: Rs.25554/
