To get clearance of address verification.

I have paid an amount of 200/-Rs for in Jadavpur Police Station to get the verification of address of application for passport. Though we had valid address proof both of our village address proof from local "Gram Panchayat"and the hostel address(JU Main Hostel) proof from Jadavpur University.

This is not any new thing , it's a general practice there as lots of student apply for passport as it is a valid identity card for GRE exam.
