There was this huge connection between passport office and brokers. It was so difficult to even get some information. When I went there for information I was told to come at 3am in morning stand in queue take a token and come later in noon to ask one question but then that day i did not get my turn. So I approach a broker who said he would get an appointment as well a police clearance (Which was not required at all but due to lack of information I was cheated to believe he is submitting the police certificate from some officer he knows). So in essence i paid 10000 just for appointment as online appointment never seemed to open up for us individuals.
Of course later post man (speed post from postal service) asked for 300 bakshish and the police verification person asked for 1000.These are official rates in Hyderabad as of 2011. If inflation goes up may be post man would ask 500 and police verification person would ask 2000.
