I have erroneously filed a tax return manually in my Income Tax Ward without quoting my PAN as i am not having it at the time of filing return. That is my first year of earning so iam not conversant with tax matters. In Jan 2011, after due date is over i have got a letter from income tax officer, Kothagudem demanding me to pay Rs. 5000 as penalty for not quoting PAN due to which it amounted to non-filing of return. I went to him and asked him to exempt me. He asked for Rs. 2000 for exempting and set-righting the return. I requested him for more than 3 days. First day when i met him he ordered me to bring snacks to him and his staff which cost me around Rs. 250. Next day 2nd day i requested him, he asked for 1 KG Sweet, which cost me Rs. 350, finally on 3rd day he took Rs. 1000 from me and said that with his agent he will file revised return on behalf of me and make the return correct and orally said that he will drop the demand. After that i did not got any problem with that return till date.
After that, as per the advice of my friend i vacated that house, took new house and took PAN card on new address.
