The Trash collectors are supposed to collect trash from our Apartments without any charge. However it is not done and further they forbid us from dumping the trash in the trash bin at the street corner too. Their charges (bribe) for allowing us to dump trash in the bin from where the truck collects it every day was finally negotiated at Rs. 300 per month (for 40 apartments). If they have to collect the same from the gate of the apartment, the charges run into Rs.1000 to 2000. We have settled for the former after complaints to the BWSSB did not evoke any response. Those who stay in small houses & cannot pay the bribe, just dump the trash on the road or open plots.
Likewise, many poor residents pay bribe to get the lineman to do his duty of opening the water vale at appointed times to get their regular supply of water. On the contrary Rich bungalow owners pay bribe to get extra water whenever they have a shortage of it - like some functions etc.
