26 injured in Madrid club ceiling collapse
Madrid, Jan 14 (IANS) At least 26 people were injured early on Sunday when the ceiling of a nightclub in the Spanish capital of Madrid collapsed, emergency services said.
The incident happened in the "La Suegra" discotheque in Carabanchel district at 1.30 a.m. local time when around 16 sq.m. of the ceiling on the second floor collapsed, Xinhua news agency reported.
A total of 26 people were injured, with the ambulance service reporting that 15 received treatment from emergency services at the scene, and 11 were taken to different hospitals.
The Fire Brigade were also on the scene to help rescue victims, and they immediately closed the upper floor of the building to prevent any further collapses.
Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
