Bribe asked for by District Employment Officer in Chattisgarh
This is to bring to your notice the incident that happened with me today on 1st Dec 2016. I had called a District Employment Officer in Chattisgarh at around 2:00 pm in the afternoon to discuss possibilities of doing a placement camp for hiring for various requirements in my company. I had called Mr SK Rajauriya (Upsanchalak of Rajnandgaon District Employment office) to discuss with him my requirements.
He started asking me details of the requirements which I explained him, he assured me that he would put all his efforts to help us fulfill the positions that we have. He started telling me of the strategies that we will be using to close the requirements through conducting a job fair/ drive. He then told me that what benefit will that be for me? I was confused and asked him what he meant. So he said that you clearly understand what I am asking for, please do something so that I also benefit from this. In the awkward conversation that followed, I refused to pay him any bribes/ favors which made him uncomfortable and he said hes travelling so I need to call him back later.
The way he asked was very shocking for me since he is a government official who is in charge of the socially important task of providing jobs to candidates who are unemployed and I was representing a reputable corporate company.
