CID inquiry
This happened when I applied for a new passport and CID inquiry was required. The officer came for inquiry in right time. First of all he did all the formalities of identification and then remained sitting on chair for a while. I understood what was coming ahead so I kept quite and waited for him to say it. After a while he got up and said, "Ye passport ka kaam bahut jhanjat ka hai, thora kharcha to ********** hi padta hai".
At first, I didn't know what to say as I required my passport at earliest and saying no would have disappointed him but then I thought it's better to take rounds of Passport office few times than pay him. So I just made an excuse of my parents not being at home and I didn't carry any cash. He made a few comments of how my passport request could get delayed and all that and when I didn't reply anything he just left.
As a result I had to wait for few months and go to Passport office once before my request was granted. But at least I got my passport without paying anything. For me it's an achievement. :)
