Reported on May 9, 2014 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #40887

I received my license in Jan 2014, I had to go through a driving school for it but that is a different story. I noticed that the DoB in the license is incorrect. However I couldn't immediately go to the RTO since I was travelling for the next two months. In April I finally went to the KR Puram RTO, the helpdesk directed me to one Mr Pasha who looked at the license and brushed me away saying it's too late, you should have come earlier. He didn't bother telling what's the procedure to correct it. I went to the ARTO but lot of officials were on leave since it was the day after general elections.
Since I had other planned activities, I returned back without pursuing the matter further.
Next week I again went to the RTO and this time I was determined to get it done. We went to Mr Pasha's office, there was a huge line of learner's and permanent license seekers, we got hold of a subordinate who gave us some instructions on what could be a possible solutions but it involved paying a fee of Rs 200. I didn't want to pay any fees considering the fault was not mine.
We went to the ARTO, who turned out to be a very helpful person and suitably guided us to write an application, get correct DoB document attested, get details corrected in system, collect an acknowledgement slip and deposit the license for rectification.
It did involve some running around from desk to desk but in the end I got all the corrections done and submitted the license. It would have been a big pain without knowing the local language but having to someone to help was a blessing for me. I went back the next week to get the corrected license back without a fuss.
