Got a Passport without paying a single Rs.!
Me and my husband applied for a Tatkal renewal of passport. At the time of Police verification, we were asked for a bribe which we refused to pay. After a few days we received a letter that our Police verification is adverse (Despite of providing all address proofs and genuine documents). We were called to ********** inquiry officer to present a clarification. We went to PP office and raised the concern, got a reluctant reply with a suggestion to re-initiate the PV process (which made no sense as the police will ask for a bribe again). So we walked out and went to police station where they told us everything is perfect in our records and lied that we have sent a positive report, commissioner office might have changed it. We went to commissioner office and raised the same issue. They said Police station has sent an adverse report, so we should better get it re-initiated and then only they can do something about it. We went to Passport office again, presented our case again and asked them to recheck our records as they were scanned in PSK at the time of application. The SP sitting there checked it, smiled and unfroze our passports, which were frozen for past 1 month for no other reason, but our commitment for not paying a bribe!
