Indian railway TTE accepting bribe from travelling passengers who were travelling with unauthorized ticket/without ticket.
I would like to share my story of a TTE of Train No. 12538
MUV MKI EXPRESS. I was travelling by this train on 1-July-2011 on route of Gorakhpur to Bagaha with a ticket No. ******* . I witnessed the TTE of coach no.S-2 (sleeper Class) accepting bribe from travelling passengers who were travelling with unauthorized ticket/without ticket. I recorded this incident on my mobile phone camera but somehow he got to know about it and asked me to delete it. On resistance from my side he started abusive language and threatened me. I had to delete the file. I did not want to take any chance and getting into trouble as I was travelling alone.
As I am a frequent traveler on this route, I observe this phenomenon quite often. The TTEs of these trains do not wear their badges to hide their identity. I have written compailnt to Railway Vigilance Commission and also to other different railway authorities requesting them to take some action against such people and to enforce some system which could minimize the corruption in the Indian railways.
I haven't received any reply from railway department so far.
