Hi, I wanted a LKG admission for my daughter in one of Chennai's…

Reported on April 14, 2014 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #40512

Hi,

I wanted a LKG admission for my daughter in one of Chennai's so called 'good schools' namely:

- Bhavans Rajaji Vidyasharam, Kilpauk
- Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kilpauk
- Chinmaya Vidyalaya Anna Nagar
- SBOA School and Junior College, Anna Nagar
- Lady Andal Venkata Subba Rao School, Chennai

My experiences with corruption, graft and bribery in all these schools is as elaborated below.

In all the above schools, there is an eye wash submission of application forms and then there is a 'mock' interview, where are parents and their kids are led like sheep through different processes such as verification of documents, address proof etc, during which teachers ask questions to the kids like "how did you come to the school" [meaning car, bike, bus or autorickshaw] primarily to ascertain the parents financial status. After the lambs [parents and kids] are taken through this initial 'screening', they have to meet the butcher [principal] at the last stage in the abattoir .... where the principal doesnt talk too much, but there is a person or two sitting with the principal who asks the question [slight difference in words used, but meanings remain the same ] "So, what can you contribute towards the admission" ... If I say 50,000 then most principals, show a certain discomfiture in their faces, some of them sniggering and turning away, which their assistants say "well, if you dont pay atleast 1 lakh you wont even be listed in the waiting list". We say thank you and then leave.

This has happened to me and my wife in all the five schools I have applied for my daughter's admission. Some schools such as SBOA JC insist that we do not carry mobile phones into the interview room, claiming that the 3 year old kid will browse and say out the answers !!!

So all LKG admissions in the above schools are purely on the basis of money and bribes. The rates are like this:

- Bhavans Rajaji Vidyasharam, Kilpauk - Minimum 4 Lakhs in 2014 - Only Cash Accepted through Touts and Brokers in the Admin Dept of school.
- Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kilpauk - - Minimum 2 Lakhs in 2014 - Only Cash Accepted through Touts and Brokers.
- Chinmaya Vidyalaya Anna Nagar - Minimum 2 Lakhs in 2014 - Only Cash Accepted through Touts and Brokers.
- SBOA School and Junior College, Anna Nagar - - Minimum 1.20 Lakhs in 2014 - Only Cash Accepted through Touts and Brokers.

- Lady Andal Venkata Subba Rao School, Chennai - 2 Lakhs as Cheque.

SBOA JC Anna Nagar, has 70 students in each class and there are about 15 sections.
So 70 studentsx15 sections x Rs.1 Lakhs = Rs.10 Crore for just Donation to LKG !!!!!!!!!

I am Post Graduate and my wife is a Doctorate. We dont want to be lambs and sheep. I would rather educate my daughter in a small school and by ourselves. All these five star schools which take money to admit, will surely not be able to provide proper education. They are tuition centres run by men and women who would do 'anything' for money. If they charge few lakhs for LKG admission

I decided to admit my daughter in a small school for LKG and seek out a good school after two years without paying a rupee of bribe.

I am not religious, but I am spiritual, I believe in karma, and if I am part of a corrupt system that is washed in bad money and practices, then this will affect me and my family.
This may sound stupid to most indians reading this, and coming from an educated man like me, but so is the concept of religion and God.

Let us not feed this ugly monster called corruption.
