No Police Verification at my Residence.
The G1 Police station, next to the State Bank of India is notorious for not visiting the addresses of the passport applicants.
They instead call on your mobile and demand that you visit the police on a certain date. They then make you wait in the police station for two hours (in order to sweat it out) and when the clerk finally calls you in to "interview" you, he will turn the pages of your documents and then ask you some random questions about the exact location of your residence and the landmarks. He then tells you that he doesn't know ache place and says that he might have to put your file on hold as it's inconvenient for him to personally verify your address.. He then pauses dramatically for 5 minutes and then asks how much your salary is..he then mentions that police are not well paid.
I confess that the only reason that I did not pay was because I wasn't comfortable paying a bribe in a police station.
I just got my passport yesterday after a lot of chasing.
