Reported on December 12, 2014 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #48139

I was caught on my way to repair my bike on 7th December, 2014 for having no PUC in a nakabandi in Mumbai. The cop told me the fine was Rs. 1100/- I was somewhere aware that the official fine was only Rs. 100/- if we produced the same within 7 days of getting caught for the same offence. Therefore, I requested him to give me an official receipt for the same. He levied section 115 under CMVA for PUC. After doing some research online and with a friend who is well aware of the rules and regulations due to his connections, I went to the Police Station on 12th December, 2014 after getting a new PUC done a day before i.e. 11th December. Since, i had adhered to the 7 day deadline, i got away by paying Rs. 100/- only!

The reason I am posting this is so that all citizens accross India (because this Act is applicable accross India and is not State specific) are made aware of official rules and regulations. Therefore, if anyone tries to catch you for not having a valid PUC or an expired PUC, get an official receipt, get a PUC within a week and get away by just paying Rs. 100/-
