Pay or be suspicious
It was a time when I applied for Passport. The policeman came to our home for verification. Initially he was very humble and he completed his formalities. He checked all the supporting documents and then suddenly he told me that he want to see the domicile certificate in original. I told him that the certificate is submitted at university for the verification.I only have the attested photocopy at present, that is all required. Then he started telling the nuanced blah blah of verification procedure and finally asked a bribe of INR 1500 for verification. I refused to pay. His humble "sir/madam" attitude turned into a bitter authoritative tone. He started pressurize me by saying that he will have to send report against because for verification he had to go out of his duty norms and he needed INR 1500 as a risk cover, but I refused openly. Finally he went by saying that I will try my best to forward it but SP office will not going to entertain this.
After a month or two I checked my passport status there was written "Identity is suspicious, couldn't make interaction with applicant". I laughed and finally told my father. Thank god the city was small and our family have access to higher officers of district. So after some time I got my verification finally. But the question arises. It is a basic thing to get passport that must be done without any access or influence.
