Press Release.

Reported on March 1, 2011 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #32529

Only weeks after paying a bribe for a supposed traffic violation, I was once again caught by just a single cop near my house.

The moment he caught me and took me aside, he started demanding Rs. 150 for a signal violation. This time I was pretty witty. He asked for my driving license, papers and all. I in return asked for his name and Id number.

Now he got pretty worried, since I was asking for the Id and name of a cop who wore no badge and did not even have a belt and was wearing hawai slippers. I insisted that he give me details as I am a reporter for one of the country's top newspapers. And luckily, there was a newspaper in my bike's pouch. I flashed it at him it somehow freaked him out.

Within moments he started running away literally. Try it. It works. It's like a strategy with dogs. When a dog moves aggressively at you, stand your ground and try staring back at it, the dog at most times would do nothing at all. Try snapping back at it, it would most likely run away.
