Refused to bribe customs at the International airport
My wife and myself were coming to India from UK for a holiday. My brother had gifted us a couple of small gold coins and we were bringing them back to India for safe keeping. I was pretty sure that the Gold coins (2 weighing 1/2 oz each) were within the permissible limits. However the lady at the customes desk told me that I was carrying the coins illegally and needed to pay a fine. She said that the official fine was 1500Rs or I could pay her 700Rs. I asked her to get lost and paid the 1500Rs at the counter. I am not sure if I really needed to pay the fine but couldn't be bothered to fight 2am!!
