A few hours ago i got caught by the police as they took a breath test at silk board junction(madiwala police). i had consumed limited alcohol and on the reading it said 30.2%. i am not sure what is the limit but this is what happened. they made me wait and threatened to take me and others to the station. i saw cops literally taking bribe from commuters y sitting in their car and pretending to put a case on them. i was in two minds to pay a bribe or not. but i thought let me see what happens. i saw a cop beating a lorry driver for some reason with a lathi/stick. i was taken to the station and one cop took another test and he claimed that my alcohol was 110% shockingly, which i know cannot be the case. he put a case on me, and later on told me indirectly why was i simply standing at silkboard (in other words i should have paid bribe and left. another cop told me to get out and started shouting at me using bad words and calling names in kannada which sounded like he was calling bad words about my dad too. this has truly hurt my feelings and has caused me so much distress and fear over how cops are. i have faced bribes several times before, but this episode has led me t write this to you. i feel completely disrespected and put down and the way they treat civilians has shocked me too much. am not sure if you would ever take action or not, but talking about the dignity of our cops and how safe are we with currupt cops is the biggest question. why harrass and not just be honest with us? eventually i have to take an auto back home at 2am where even our auto drivers have taken 300rs from madivala to hsr layout, which on double metre will not come more than 100 rs. i just feel sad for our country and wish our complaints are taken seriously and eliminate such behaviours and curruption from our roads.
