Apathy of Legal System and BWSSB officials
Our apartment in Bangalore comprises of 80 flats. The builder collected 50k from each owner as part of cost of flat but didn't pay the collected amount to BWSSB to regularize the sewage line and to provide a water connection. This was in 2007. Its been 5 years now. We filed a consumer case but that is also taking time - more than 24 months now - whereas consumer court redressals are to concluded in 180 days max. Meanwhile BWSSB officials come to our apartment and threaten to cut the sewage connection every 2-3 months. We have to bribe them to keep them away. Police has also not taken any action on criminal charges of cheating FIR against the builder.
The outstanding amount and penalties are now more than 24 lakhs. BWSSB officials are now asking us to pay 7 lacs officially and 3 lacs as bribe to settle the amount. Why should we pay once again when we have already paid once to the builder. BWSSB's dues are with the builder, it is their job to run after him and collect the dues. Why have they been sleeping all this while - and why should we pay again for the apathy of the legal system and BWSSB officials?
