Demanding bribe to register an address and deliver letters

I had sent my office representative to check why my letters are not being delivered to my address, and was in for a shock when they demanded Rs 1000 to register my address and get it verified. I am used to people demanding money in every department but Post Office like come on.

Any advise on how to complain and set an example for other post office employees would be great.

There is no need to register address in the post office and get it verified. You can lodge a complaint against post office officials at www.indiapost.gov.in website and follow guidelines for registration of complaints.
