Reported on July 12, 2015 from Navi Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #62722

Hi!
I am being asked for Rs 8000/- for the registration of a new car that I have bought. This amount is being asked for by the dealership, which claims that it is for the RTO since my rental agreement is not registered. Else they are asking me to go to the RTO and sort out the issue.
I have the following documents for address proof: 1) Unregistered Rental agreement of current address with police verification report 2) Aadhar card with current address 3) Bank statement (With 3 Private Listed Banks) with current address 4) Gas connection with Nationalised provider 5) Insurance policy with private company in current address 6) Credit card statement from Private bank in current address.
I have submitted my Pan card as ID proof. I also have a passport which has my permanent address.
I am at a loss and do not know who to go to with my concern and find a remedy.
It would be great if I can get remedy to this malady as I understand from a lot of people that this is a common practice and many of them have ended up paying this amount to avoid any hassles.
Regards,
John.
