I currently hold a Driving License issued by Asst. Licensing Authority, Chennai Central on 20/05/1998 that has expired on 11/12/2017. I have been residing in Bangalore for 17+ years and have been driving for almost 20 years.

When I went to the RTO for driving license renewal, I was told that I need to go to Chennai Central RTO and personally get an NOC from there before I can renew in Bangalore. The other alternative is that I apply for Learner's License, wait for a month and give a driving test for a new Driving License.

My question is: Is this the only available option today? Do I either need to go to Chennai to get an NOC or go through the LL/DL route?
