Need to renew passport for my wife
Hi,
I need to renew my passport for my wife. We attended a recent 'passport mela'. According to the passport website, the only document required for my wife's renewal would be my passport which has the spouse name endorsed and our current residential address. We did not have any bank account or gas bill or EB bill in her name. We carried her old passport, her degree certificates, our marriage certificates. On showing up there, we were told that they cannot accept the application since my passport has been renewed in the last one year and therefore cannot be considered 'enough proof' and that we need to get a certificate from the Tashildar's office.
I would like to know what would be the best legal way to get this done. Does anyone here have a prior experience going through the same ? I do not want to pay a bribe or go through agents who promise to get it done.
