Although rare, there are still some honest cops
This report is from way back in 2003. I was abroad for a year or so and came back to Mumbai. I had my two wheeler and was driving to office. A cop stopped me. I had not realized that the rule had changed and the background and the fore front color had been reversed.
I was preparing myself to pay the fine, while he asked me where I worked. He gave me recommendation on having it re-painted while in office and let me go. This was one of the rare occasions where I have seen an honest cop who did not take a bribe.
