Honest scientist at Hyderabad
Hi,
I want to share my story about Dr. Jyotsna Dhavan a former scientist at a pioneer scientific institution of India and now a director of another science instite. I was in final year of my doctoral degree program, when at a crucial juncture I had to request her a place to work in her Institute. The campus of my Institute was in a transition phase and my cells were in culture. My doctoral committee has given me a time of two months to finish off the experiments so that I can write the thesis. The culture room in my new campus was not ready and I knew if I froze my cultures, I have to wait for another two three months. At this point of time I just mailed Dr. Jyotsna Dhawan. I did not know the official procedures. At a time when the officials of own institute created a hindrance by saying that I can not shift my cultures because some or the other documents could not me made due to shifting campus, Dr. Jyotsna just agreed. To my better surprise she also got permission from the then Director of her Institute Dr. Lalji Singh within one or two days. Those two months were the most productive stage of my doctoral thesis and I could complete my thesis because of that support offered to me by such an honest lady. Sometimes, documents, filling up the forms, entry registers etc create a lot of hindrance in scientific research where timing is more important. Timely support and help can save a lot of time.
